Flanders Fields is located in Belgium. The famous war memorial poem is associated with Veterans Day. Poppies have become a symbol of remembrance of soldiers who have died during wartime, especially in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other Commonwealth realms.

Whenever I hear the number 911, I think of that day 23 years ago. 911 is the number to call in an emergency, but I don`t associate those numbers with a phone call. No, I think of turning on the television on that sunny day after I learned what happened. After watching people covered in ashes running away from the Twin Towers, I felt afraid and sick and in shock....

She has been described as the initiator of the Magical Realism movement, though she rejected this affiliation. She is a recipient of the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Prize.
